THAT SPANISH WOMAN… “CARMEN” by G. BIZET (4 voices+piano+choir group with 16 voices).
George de Bizet achieved great success when he composed “Carmen”: a Sevillian free and easy woman who worked in the Tobacco Factory, and known, because of that, as “Carmen the Cigar maker”. She had persistent affairs with every type of men: military men, highwaymen and bull fighters. And she didn´t mind hurting her close friends´ feelings by stealing their lovers. She had a life of continuos jealousy and many loving infidelities with her lovers, which drove her to a dramatic end. The group is made up by:
Soprano, Tenor, Baritone, Mezzo-soprano, Piano and a Choir of 16 voices.
Arantxa Velasco, outstanding soprano with an important lyric record, a great voice and a varied repertoire including arias from both Operas and Zarzuelas, popular songs and Spanish Song by Federico García Lorca.
She is accompanied by an internationally renowned pianist.
On stage it is placed a blackboard so that the guests can write down their musical preferences chosen from a big number of shown scores which will be performed either by the singer or, if they are instrumental themes, by the pianist.
